Stesichorus
Stesichorus was an ancient Greek poet, active around the 6th century BCE, known for his innovative contributions to lyric poetry. He is credited with developing the "strophic" structure, which allows for a more complex arrangement of verses, often accompanied by music. Stesichorus’s works focused on themes from mythology and heroism, incorporating narrative elements that distinguished him from previous poets. His most famous creation is the "Palinode," a poem that retracted a previous statement. Stesichorus greatly influenced later poets and the evolution of Greek literature, marking a shift towards more personal and dramatic expressions in poetry.
