stent
A stent is a small, mesh-like tube made of metal or other materials that is inserted into a narrowed or blocked blood vessel, often in the heart, to help keep it open. During a procedure called angioplasty, doctors place the stent to restore normal blood flow, reducing the risk of heart attack and improving heart function. It acts like a scaffolding, supporting the vessel walls and preventing collapse or re-narrowing. Stents are usually left permanently in place and are a common, effective treatment for various vascular blockages.
