Special Rapporteurs
Special Rapporteurs are independent experts appointed by the United Nations to investigate, monitor, and report on specific human rights issues or country situations. They conduct research, gather information, and engage with governments and civil society to assess human rights conditions. Their findings are shared with the UN Human Rights Council and can influence international policies and practices. While they do not have enforcement power, their reports aim to raise awareness, promote accountability, and advocate for better human rights standards globally. Each Special Rapporteur focuses on a particular area, such as freedom of expression, torture, or the rights of specific groups.
