The United Nations Human Rights Council
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an intergovernmental body within the UN responsible for promoting and protecting human rights around the world. Established in 2006, it addresses human rights violations and examines issues through discussions, resolutions, and the Universal Periodic Review, which evaluates countries' human rights records. The Council consists of 47 member states elected for three-year terms and works to raise awareness about human rights problems, recommend actions, and engage in dialogue with governments and civil society to improve human rights standards globally.
