United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an intergovernmental body within the UN responsible for promoting and protecting human rights worldwide. Created in 2006, it addresses human rights violations, promotes accountability, and fosters dialogue on human rights issues among member states. The council conducts regular reviews of human rights practices in all countries and provides recommendations. It also works with special rapporteurs—experts on specific issues—to investigate and report on human rights situations. By raising awareness and encouraging compliance with human rights standards, the UNHRC aims to enhance the well-being and dignity of people around the globe.
