solid tumors
Solid tumors are abnormal masses of tissue that form when cells grow uncontrollably. Unlike liquid tumors, such as leukemias, which affect blood, solid tumors develop in specific organs or tissues, like the breast, lung, or colon. They can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Malignant tumors can invade nearby tissues and spread to other parts of the body, a process known as metastasis. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests, biopsies, and other medical evaluations. Treatment options often include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, depending on the tumor’s type, stage, and location.
