Socratic Ignorance

Socratic Ignorance refers to the awareness of one's own lack of knowledge. Named after the philosopher Socrates, it emphasizes humility in understanding what we truly know and what we don’t. Socrates believed that recognizing our ignorance is the first step toward gaining true knowledge. In the context of general knowledge, this means acknowledging that there is always more to learn and that claiming to know everything can hinder genuine understanding. By accepting our limitations, we become more open to inquiry, dialogue, and ultimately, growth in knowledge.
