SLAP lesion

A SLAP lesion is an injury to the shoulder joint, specifically affecting the cartilage that helps stabilize the joint. The term "SLAP" stands for "Superior Labrum Anterior and Posterior," indicating that the damage occurs at the top part of the shoulder's labrum, which is a ring of cartilage. This type of injury often results from repetitive overhead activities or trauma, leading to symptoms like pain, clicking sounds, and decreased range of motion in the shoulder. Treatment may include physical therapy or, in some cases, surgery to repair the damaged cartilage.
