Sir Thomas Fairfax
Sir Thomas Fairfax (1612–1671) was a prominent English soldier and leader during the English Civil War (1642–1651). He served as the commander of the New Model Army for Parliament, playing a crucial role in key victories against Royalist forces loyal to King Charles I. Fairfax was known for his military skill and discipline, contributing to the Parliamentarian cause in the conflict that sought to limit the king's power. After the war, he became disillusioned with the political direction of the country and withdrew from public life, leaving a legacy as a key figure in England’s military history.
