Shakey the Robot

Shakey the Robot was one of the first mobile robots to use artificial intelligence, developed at the Stanford Research Institute in the 1960s. Unlike earlier robots, Shakey could make decisions based on its surroundings and navigate through obstacles in real time. It combined computer vision to perceive its environment and advanced problem-solving algorithms to plan its movements. Shakey was notable for demonstrating that a robot could understand its environment, reason about tasks, and execute actions, laying foundational work for future robotics and artificial intelligence research.
