The Frame Problem

The Frame Problem refers to the challenge faced by artificial intelligence and robotics in determining what information is relevant when making decisions or planning actions. Essentially, when an AI needs to understand a situation, it must figure out which details to consider and which can be ignored. For example, if a robot is told to open a door, it must recognize that only changes related to that task matter, while many other factors (like the weather outside) are irrelevant. This balancing act between relevant and irrelevant information is what makes the problem complex and significant in AI development.
