Scott Expedition

The Scott Expedition, led by British explorer Robert Falcon Scott, aimed to reach the South Pole in the early 20th century. Setting out in 1910, Scott's team faced extreme weather, limited supplies, and competition from Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who reached the Pole first in December 1911. Scott and his men eventually reached the South Pole in January 1912 but tragically died on the return journey due to starvation and harsh conditions. Their story highlights the challenges of polar exploration and the human spirit's resilience amid adversity.
