Terra Nova Expedition
The Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913), led by Robert Falcon Scott, was an effort to reach the South Pole and conduct scientific research in Antarctica. Scott and his team traveled across treacherous icy terrain in tough conditions, facing extreme cold and hardship. In January 1912, they reached the South Pole but found they had been beaten by a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen. Tragically, Scott and his remaining companions died on the return journey due to exhaustion, starvation, and the harsh environment. The expedition is remembered for its remarkable endurance and scientific contributions, as well as the tragic human story behind the journey.
