Satyricon
"Satyricon" is a Roman work of literature attributed to Petronius, dating back to the 1st century AD. It is one of the earliest novels and offers a satirical look at Roman society through a fragmented narrative featuring two main characters, Encolpius and Giton. The text explores themes of sexuality, decadence, and the complexities of human relationships, often blending humor with sharp social critique. Due to its incomplete nature, much of its content is lost, but it remains significant for its vivid depiction of life in ancient Rome and its influence on later literary works.
