Ramadan activities
Ramadan is a holy month in Islam, characterized by fasting from dawn until sunset. Muslims refrain from eating and drinking during daylight hours, focusing on prayer, reflection, and community. Daily meals called Iftar break the fast at sunset, often shared with family and friends. Many engage in increased prayer, including a special nightly prayer called Tarawih. Acts of charity and generosity, known as Zakat, are emphasized, as well as reading the Quran. Ramadan fosters spiritual growth, self-discipline, and empathy for those less fortunate, culminating in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the fasting period.
