prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN)

Prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) is a condition that affects the prostate gland, where the cells lining the prostate undergo abnormal changes. These changes can indicate a higher risk of developing prostate cancer, but PIN itself is not cancer. It is often found during biopsies taken to investigate prostate issues. There are two main types: low-grade PIN, which has a lower risk of progressing to cancer, and high-grade PIN, which poses a greater concern for potential cancer development. Regular monitoring and follow-up are usually recommended for those diagnosed with high-grade PIN.
