Gleason Score
The Gleason Score is a system used to evaluate the aggressiveness of prostate cancer. It ranges from 2 to 10, based on how abnormal the cancer cells appear under a microscope. The score is determined by adding two grades: the most common pattern of cells and the second most common pattern. Lower scores (like 2-6) often indicate less aggressive cancer, while higher scores (7-10) suggest more aggressive forms. This score helps doctors plan the most effective treatment for patients, tailoring approaches based on the cancer's potential behavior.
