Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference was a meeting held in July-August 1945, attended by leaders from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union, including President Harry S. Truman, Prime Minister Winston Churchill (later replaced by Clement Attlee), and Premier Joseph Stalin. Its main goals were to discuss the postwar reorganization of Germany and Europe, set terms for Japan's surrender in World War II, and to address issues related to peace treaties. The conference aimed to establish order and prevent future conflicts, but differing ideologies among the powers later contributed to the onset of the Cold War.
