Platyhelminthes

Platyhelminthes, commonly known as flatworms, are a group of simple, soft-bodied animals characterized by their flat, ribbon-like shape. They lack a backbone and have a basic body structure with no specialized respiratory or circulatory systems. Flatworms can be found in various environments, including freshwater, marine, and moist terrestrial habitats. They include free-living species, like planarians, and parasitic forms, such as tapeworms and flukes. Platyhelminthes have a simple digestive system, often featuring a single opening for both ingestion and excretion, and they exhibit remarkable regenerative abilities, allowing some species to regrow lost body parts.
