Phoenix Mars Lander

The Phoenix Mars Lander was a robotic spacecraft that landed on Mars in May 2008. Its mission was to explore the Martian arctic region, primarily searching for signs of water and studying the planet's climate and geology. Equipped with a suite of scientific instruments, Phoenix analyzed soil samples and took images, contributing to our understanding of whether Mars has been, or can be, habitable for life. It successfully operated until November 2008, when the harsh Martian winter made conditions too extreme for its solar panels to generate power.
