Philippine–American War
The Philippine–American War (1899-1902) was a conflict between the United States and Filipino revolutionaries. After the U.S. defeated Spain in the Spanish-American War, it took control of the Philippines, sparking a desire for independence among Filipinos. When American forces tried to establish control, fighting broke out. The war was marked by guerrilla tactics and significant casualties on both sides. Ultimately, the U.S. suppressed the rebellion, establishing colonial rule, which lasted until the Philippines gained independence in 1946. The war shaped U.S.-Philippine relations and has been a subject of historical debate regarding imperialism and national sovereignty.
