Anti-Imperialist League
The Anti-Imperialist League was an organization in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that opposed the expansion of U.S. territory and influence overseas, particularly after the Spanish-American War of 1898. Members believed that imperialism violated principles of self-determination, democracy, and morality. They argued that controlling other nations or territories was unjust and could harm American values, including liberty and independence. The league included a diverse group of activists, writers, and political leaders who promoted anti-imperialist principles through advocacy, education, and debate.
