Philipp Melanchthon

Philipp Melanchthon (1497-1560) was a German scholar and theologian, best known for his role in the Protestant Reformation alongside Martin Luther. He was a key figure in shaping Lutheran doctrine and education, advocating for a system of schooling that emphasized classical studies and the humanities. Melanchthon authored the "Augsburg Confession," a foundational document for Lutheranism, outlining the beliefs of the reformers.
