pH Levels

pH levels measure how acidic or basic a substance is on a scale from 0 to 14. A pH of 7 is neutral, meaning neither acidic nor basic. Values below 7 indicate acidity (0 to 6.9), while those above 7 indicate alkalinity (7.1 to 14). For example, lemon juice has a low pH and is quite acidic, whereas baking soda is basic and has a high pH. Understanding pH is important in various fields, including chemistry, biology, agriculture, and environmental science, as it affects chemical reactions, soil health, and aquatic ecosystems.
