Personality Cult
A personality cult refers to the excessive admiration and devotion surrounding a particular leader or public figure, often characterized by the promotion of an idealized image of that individual. This phenomenon typically occurs in authoritarian regimes, where the leader is portrayed as infallible and extraordinary through propaganda and media control. Followers are encouraged to idolize the leader, often at the expense of critical thinking or dissent. This can create a strong emotional attachment to the leader, leading to the suppression of opposition and critical discourse in society, as the leader becomes synonymous with national identity or values.
