Perotin

Perotin was a notable medieval composer from the late 12th century, primarily associated with the Notre Dame school of polyphony in Paris. He is best known for his innovative use of multiple independent melodies sung simultaneously, a style known as early polyphony. Perotin's work advanced the musical complexity of the time, most famously through pieces like "Viderunt Omnes," which features lush, overlapping vocal lines. His contributions helped lay the foundation for later developments in Western classical music and demonstrated a shift from plainchant to richer, more textured musical forms.
