Organum triplum

Organum triplum is a form of early polyphonic music from the medieval period, typically developed in the 12th and 13th centuries. In this style, a primary melody, usually a plainchant, is accompanied by two additional melodies, creating a rich, layered sound. The three voices harmonize and move together, often following specific intervals. This innovation marked a significant progression in musical composition, as it shifted from monophonic (single melody) to polyphonic (multiple melodies), laying the foundation for more complex forms of Western music that would emerge in the Renaissance and beyond.
