Pediatric Amblyopia
Pediatric amblyopia, often called "lazy eye," is a vision development disorder in children where one eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity, usually due to strabismus (crossed eyes), significant differences in prescription between the eyes, or other visual obstructions. This condition leads to the brain favoring one eye over the other, affecting depth perception and overall vision. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial, as addressing amblyopia during childhood can improve vision outcomes, typically through corrective lenses, eye patches, or vision therapy. Without treatment, amblyopia can lead to permanent vision loss in the affected eye.
