Lazy Eye

Lazy eye, or amblyopia, occurs when one eye doesn't develop proper vision during early childhood. This can happen if the brain favors the stronger eye, ignoring signals from the weaker one, leading to reduced vision in that eye. Causes include differences in focus between eyes, misaligned eyes (strabismus), or clouded lenses (cataracts). If not treated early, the weaker eye may never develop good vision. Treatment options often involve patching the stronger eye, vision therapy, or correcting underlying issues to encourage proper development of the weaker eye. Early detection and intervention are key to preventing lasting vision problems.
