Palaiologan period

The Palaiologan period refers to the last dynasty of the Byzantine Empire, ruling from 1259 to 1453. This era saw a mix of cultural flourishing and significant challenges, including internal strife and the threat from the Ottoman Turks. The Palaiologos family promoted art, literature, and philosophy, leading to a renaissance of Byzantine culture. However, as the empire weakened, Constantinople, the capital, faced increasing pressure and was ultimately conquered by the Ottomans in 1453, marking the end of Byzantine rule and a significant shift in the region's history.
