Trebizond

Trebizond was a historic city located on Turkey’s Black Sea coast, serving as the capital of the Empire of Trebizond from 1204 to 1461. Founded after the Fourth Crusade, it became a wealthy trading hub due to its strategic position connecting Europe and Asia. The city was known for its rich culture, impressive Byzantine architecture, and as a center for commerce and religion. Eventually, Trebizond fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1461, marking the end of its independent rule. Today, the site is known as Trabzon, a modern Turkish city with historical significance.
