Pakal the Great, also known as K’inich Janaab’ Pakal, was a prominent Maya ruler of the ancient city of Palenque, Mexico, who reigned from 615 to 683 AD. He is renowned for his contributions to architecture, including the spectacular Temple of the Inscriptions, which holds his elaborate tomb. Pakal's reign is marked by military conquests and cultural achievements, fostering art and writing. His funerary mask, made of jade, is a symbol of Maya artistry. Pakal is often remembered for his significant role in the Maya civilization during a time of prosperity and development.
