Mayan cities

Mayan cities were advanced urban centers in Mesoamerica, flourishing from about 250 to 900 AD. They featured impressive architecture, including pyramids, temples, and palaces, often adorned with intricate carvings. These cities, such as Tikal and Palenque, were hubs of culture, politics, and trade, connected by a vast network of roads. The Maya developed a complex writing system and made significant advances in mathematics and astronomy. Their society was organized around powerful city-states, each led by a king. Although many cities were abandoned by the end of the 10th century, their influence remains profound in the region’s history.
