Pakal the Great, also known as K'inich Janaab' Pakal, was a notable Maya ruler who governed the city of Palenque in present-day Mexico from 615 to 683 AD. He is renowned for his contributions to architecture and the arts, notably commissioning the inscriptions">Temple of the Inscriptions, which served as his tomb.
