Packets
In computer networks, a packet is a small unit of data that is sent over the internet. When you send an email or stream a video, your information is broken down into packets, which travel separately across the network. Each packet contains part of the data, along with important information like the sender’s and receiver’s addresses. Once all packets reach their destination, they are reassembled to form the complete message or file. This method allows for efficient and reliable data transmission, even if some packets take different routes to get to the same place.
