
Organization of American States (OAS)
The Organization of American States (OAS) is a regional organization founded in 1948 to promote democracy, human rights, security, and development among its member countries in the Americas. It consists of 35 member states, including the United States, Canada, and many countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The OAS works to strengthen relationships between nations, address social and political issues, and foster cooperation on challenges like poverty and violence. It also monitors elections and mediates disputes to help maintain peace and stability in the region.
