Operation Northwoods
Operation Northwoods was a proposed plan by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1962 to stage false-flag terrorist attacks to justify military intervention in Cuba. The plan included ideas like hijacking planes and attacking American targets, making it appear that Cuba was responsible. It was intended to rally public and political support for action against the Cuban government led by Fidel Castro. However, the proposal was never approved by President John F. Kennedy and was ultimately dismissed, highlighting the lengths to which some officials considered going during the Cold War to achieve political objectives.
