Cuban Exiles
Cuban exiles are individuals who fled Cuba, particularly after Fidel Castro's 1959 revolution, when the communist government was established. Many left due to political repression, economic challenges, and fear for their safety. Over the years, particularly in the 1960s and 1980s, large numbers settled in the United States, especially in Florida. They sought freedom, better economic opportunities, and the chance to rebuild their lives. The Cuban exile community has since played a significant role in U.S. politics, culture, and discussions about U.S.-Cuba relations, often advocating for democracy and human rights in their homeland.
