Cold War Deception
Cold War deception refers to tactics used by the United States and the Soviet Union during their geopolitical rivalry (approximately 1947-1991) to mislead each other about military capabilities, intentions, and strategies. Both superpowers utilized disinformation, propaganda, and espionage to influence perceptions and gain advantages. This included everything from fake military exercises to misleading satellite imagery. The goal was to create confusion, discourage enemy actions, and bolster their own strategic positions without actual military confrontation, reflecting the intense psychological and ideological battle that characterized the Cold War era.
