Novellae Constitutiones
The Novellae Constitutiones, often referred to simply as the Novellae, are a collection of laws and legal reforms issued by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I during the 6th century. These laws were part of his broader initiative to reform and organize Roman law. The Novellae addressed various aspects of legal and social life, including marriage, property rights, and criminal justice. They complement Justinian's earlier works, such as the Codex and the Digest, and collectively helped shape the legal framework of the Byzantine Empire and later influenced European legal systems.
