Nichiren

Nichiren was a Japanese Buddhist monk and reformer who lived in the 13th century. He is best known for his teachings centered on the Lotus Sutra, which he believed contained the ultimate truth of Buddhism. Nichiren emphasized the practice of chanting the phrase "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo" as a way to connect with the fundamental nature of reality and to achieve enlightenment. He advocated for the establishment of a society based on justice and compassion, viewing his teachings as a means to bring about peace and harmony in a troubled world. His followers have formed various schools and movements, notably Nichiren Buddhism.
