NF1

NF1, or Neurofibromatosis Type 1, is a genetic disorder that primarily affects the nervous system, causing the growth of benign tumors called neurofibromas along nerves. It can also lead to skin changes, such as café-au-lait spots, and may affect bone development and cognitive abilities. NF1 is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning one copy of the mutated gene from an affected parent can cause the condition in offspring. While there is no cure, management focuses on monitoring and treating symptoms, as individuals with NF1 can lead normal lives with proper care and support.
