New Order Government

The New Order was an authoritarian regime in Indonesia, established by President Suharto after a coup in 1966. It prioritized political stability, economic growth, and national development, often at the expense of democratic freedoms. The government suppressed dissent, controlled the media, and used military power to maintain order. While the New Order spurred economic progress and improved infrastructure, it was also marked by widespread human rights abuses and corruption. The regime lasted until 1998, when financial crises and public protests led to Suharto's resignation, paving the way for democratic reforms in Indonesia.
