National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is an umbrella organization for nine historically Black fraternities and sororities in the United States. Founded in 1930, its purpose is to promote unity, academic excellence, and community service among its member organizations. The NPHC fosters collaboration on social and educational initiatives and encourages leadership development within its membership. The nine member organizations are often referred to as the "Divine Nine" and play a significant role in the African American community through cultural enrichment, advocacy, and support for higher education.
