Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are institutions of higher education established primarily to serve African American students, particularly during the years of segregation in the United States. Founded after the Civil War, these colleges and universities aimed to provide access to quality education when many predominantly white institutions discriminated against Black students.
