National Dysphagia Diet

The National Dysphagia Diet is a set of guidelines created to help people with swallowing difficulties, known as dysphagia. It categorizes food and drink into different textures and thicknesses to make swallowing safer and easier. There are three main levels: Level 1 offers pureed foods that are smooth and easy to swallow; Level 2 includes moist, soft foods; and Level 3 consists of more solid foods that are easy to chew. The goal is to prevent choking and ensure proper nutrition while keeping meals enjoyable. Following these guidelines helps improve the quality of life for those affected by dysphagia.
