National Democratic Coalition (NADECO)
The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) was a political group in Nigeria formed in the early 1990s. It emerged as a response to the military dictatorship's refusal to transfer power to a democratically elected government after the 1993 presidential election, which was widely believed to have been won by Moshood Abiola. NADECO advocated for democracy, human rights, and the restoration of the rule of law. The coalition included various political parties, civil society groups, and activists, and played a significant role in mobilizing public support against military rule, ultimately contributing to Nigeria's transition to democracy in the late 1990s.
