Obafemi Awolowo

Obafemi Awolowo (1909-1987) was a prominent Nigerian political leader, lawyer, and statesman, known for his influential role in Nigeria’s independence from British colonial rule. He was a key figure in the Yoruba ethnic group and served as the Premier of the Western Region from 1954 to 1960. Awolowo advocated for social and economic reforms, including free education and healthcare, which significantly impacted Nigeria.
