National Bioethics Advisory Commission

The National Bioethics Advisory Commission (NBAC) was established in the United States in 1995 to address ethical issues in biology and medicine. Its goal was to provide guidance on matters like human research subjects, genetic testing, and stem cell research. Comprised of experts from various fields, NBAC aimed to ensure that scientific advancements respect ethical principles and human rights. The Commission offered recommendations to the government to help shape policies that would protect individuals while promoting beneficial research. It dissolved in 2001, but its work laid the foundation for ongoing discussions in bioethics.
