Motor Neuron Disease

Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a group of neurological conditions that affect motor neurons, the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. As these neurons deteriorate, it leads to muscle weakness, stiffness, and eventually paralysis. Common symptoms include difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing. The most well-known type is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The exact cause of MND is often unknown, and there is currently no cure. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life through therapies and support for patients and their families.
